If you struggle to identify as a Christian because you can't fathom a Christianity that excludes women, LGBTIQ+ people, or a divinity that requires us to become less human, this book is for you. In 591, Mary Magdalene’s reputation was further ruined when Pope Gregory I conflated her identity as Mary of Bethany and the “sinful woman” who anointed Jesus’s feet (In the Gospel of Luke), cementing the idea that she was a repentant prostitute.

According to the author Mary Magdalene was the only person who was able to fully perceive Christ in her heart and this was the reason she had also been His first apostle, the apostle to the apostles. Let’s not forget other spiritual leaders of Christianity, including Mary of Nazareth and Joan of Arc. WALL STREET JOURNAL BESTSELLER-- The Gospel of Mary Magdalene reveals a very different love story from the one we've come to refer to as Christianity. The powers are Darkness, Craving, Ignorance, Craving for Death, Enslavement to the physical body, The False Peace of the Flesh and the the compulsion of Rage. There was a story about Jesus that won out…that was created in the 4th century…guided by a unified version of Christianity. This book isn’t about ‘feminism’ as a movement in itself but the reverence of the feminine, the balance of all things which has to be so for life to exist. But maybe, because you’re reading this, you already know what I mean…I heard, within me, in that voice that’s more of an experience than a sound…’Give to me what you cannot carry.

And all we need to do is to turn inward (again and again); to meditate, like Mary Magdalene, in the way her gospel directs us, so that we can see past the ego of our own little lives to what's more real, and lasting, and infinite, and already here, within. This book is written to re-emphasize the teachings of Mary who was the closest female follower of Jesus. And while I truly believe that Mary had a much bigger role than what's depicted in the Bible, I don't know that I can agree with the authors MANY liberties and suppositions.Mary Magdalene Revealed brings together the exquisite balance of personal experience and the uncovering of spiritual texts that quite simply rock and lovingly challenge the Christianity of the world today. The gospel here is about the soul coming alive to love, and God is not a gendered person but rather always referenced as “The Good.

Though I am not religious, I am curious about these ancient texts, such as the Gospel of Mary Magdalene, as well those found near the Dead Sea and Nag Hammadi in Egypt over the course of the last century. Most recently they have published a poetry collection titled Maybe (Not) Her, which explores themes of bisexuality and polyamory. Many fragments are still missing, but the existing fragments—as well as references to them in other ancient manuscripts—have been turning up since 1896 and well into the 20th century. I get the sense that Watterson is preaching to the choir in this book- it reads very much as if the reader is already convinced. This gospel is not about life after death, but rather coming alive to life and love while yet in the body.

Give yourself the gift of immersing yourself in the profound love accessible to all that Meggan magnificently illuminates [in this book]. Now that I’ve read Mary Magdalene Revealed, I have a kinder, more accurate interpretation of the Ego.

Her translation of "kyrie eleison" as "Lord, Jesus Christ, son of God, have mercy on me" reads into it far too much: it literally just means "Lord, have mercy". I went home that day and made a copper tree of life, living cross vibrant and alive, and bearing much fruit. Meggan Watterson' s "Mary Magdalene Revealed ", is an initiate, loving and lyrical exploration of the feminine side of spirituality - a spiritual tradition that doesn't oppose the masculine spiritual traditions, but instead, completes them.If you ever wondered if the feminine is dormant in our spiritual traditions, Mary Magdalene Revealed makes it clear that our past, present, and future lies within her. Watterson demystifies Mary Magdalene’s life and relationship with Jesus, and teaches us how to incorporate The Gospel of Mary into our lives.
