It’s got all of the popular choices that us Brits tend to serve up but it doesn’t seem ‘samey’; Lucy clearly has a flair for flavour and the recipes really nail this down. I loved the first book as it really helped me make the switch so I thought the second book seemed like a good idea! I would have found this inspiring if I were new to veganism/vegetarianism, but I’ve been eating this way for a decade now and have cooked all of these kinds of recipes (or a variation of them) before.

I read some reviews that said the recipes are quite basic and not very imaginative but actually it's exactly what I needed; to learn how to adapt meals we already know and love, to being vegan. So impressed, the only reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5 is because of the use of vegan cheese - its gross not for me, I knew this before this cook book. I wanted to have it out in my kitchen almost as a show piece but now it has to stay in a cupboard until I actually need to use it.

There are some very accessible and delicious sounding recipes that have really inspired me to try more homecooked Vegan meals. In her first recipe book, Feed Me Vegan, Lucy Watson has you covered with tempting meals from breakfast to supper - as well as all the sweet treats and snacks you need in between! There are quite a lot of recipes in this book I will try and as with every cookbook, some that don't appeal. Packed with comforting, easy-to-make and totally delicious recipes, proving you can be vegan and still have your cake (and mac and cheese, and lasagne, and pancakes) and eat it.

If you’re holding my arm behind my back forcing me to say something then I think you could actually get away with cooking this for half the time or just dishing it up and popping it under the grill to melt the cheeze topping. If I hadn’t just polished off my bottle of vegan Bailey’s Irish Cream I would have nailed that recipe. Crammed full of flavourful and satisfying vegan fare, Feed Me Vegan will have even the most dedicated carnivore asking for seconds.

There were a few steps but nothing complicated – sauté onion, garlic and chilli with the spices, add beans and tomatoes and simmer for 15 mins. I also like the variety of meals - breakfasts, snacks, soups, lunches, dinners, big feasts; as well as the weekly meal plan suggestions and dog food recipe. The focus of this book is on vegan comfort food with veganised versions of classic meals such as pancakes, pizzas, lasagne, burgers, curries and cakes.the highlight of this book has to be the final chapter, Feed Me Celebration, which covers all the desserts you didn't think were possible, including 'chocolate fondant,' 'Eton mess' and 'Christmas cake' . I’ve tried and tested the fantastic range of dairy free and vegan Easter eggs on offer in the UK this year and in this blog you’ll find a review and rating of them all, along with my top 3! I get the impression that this is targeted towards new plant-based eaters but it will easily appeal to longer-standing vegans too, there really is something for everyone in this book.

Many of the recipes are standard traditional dishes with vegan processed food substitutes instead of animal products, which I didn't find inspiring at all. The recipes don't have over complicated methods or ingredients and there's a good variety of recipes on offer.Seasoned vegans and vegetarians will get more out of books like Jackie Kearney’s, or even revisiting the old Moosewood and Broccoli Forest cookbooks. There was over a quarter of the book taken up with chapters on sweets and cakes with is a large proportion in my opinion. So, if you are looking at kicking meat/dairy into touch and are intimidated at the thought; this lady seems to have made the idea somewhat more palatable, (and less intimidating) with some smashing ideas of her own. The recipes in this cookbook range from healthy to junk food, which is exactly what I was looking for.
