The third track features producer Barrie Osbourne, executive producer Mark Ordesky, cinematographer Andrew Lesnie, editor John Gilber, co-producer Rick Porras, composer Howard Shore, visual effects supervisor Jim Rygiel, supervising sound editor/co-designer Ethan Van der Ryn, supervising sound editor Mike Hopkins, Weta Animation Designer and supervisor Randy Cook, Weta VFX art director Christian Rivers, Weta VFX cinematographer Brian Van’t Hul, and miniatures unit director of photography Alex Funke. Assisted by a Fellowship of heroes, Frodo Baggins plunges into a perilous trek to take the mystical One Ring to Mount Doom so that it and its magical powers can be destroyed and never possessed by evil Lord Sauron. In that sense, 'The Lord of the Rings' isn't all that different than 'Star Wars,' save for the fact that each new habitat is on the same planet, rather than one per each varied area.

Spreads out the story around a weeks viewing and each viewing doesn't feel like a marathon to endure. These versions have new editing, additional special effects and music, and also more scenes and content than the theatrical versions. In addition to the extras from the extended edition DVDs you also get the three Costa Botes making-of documentaries, one for each film, that were included in the limited edition DVD release. One highlight is a documentary on the creation of Gollum, covering every aspect of the filmmaking process that was required to bring this unforgettable character to life.

In theory, if this was done as an overall correction, you could just knock down the green channel a couple of points to compensate (essentially adding magenta).

They are welcome, but it points to how much was sacrificed to get the film down to its already unwieldy theatrical length. Documentaries Cover the Filming Process, Visual Effects, Editing, Music and Sound, Stunts and Fight Training, and a Visit to Weta Digital. Of course the biggest issue that ‘net fans have had about all this colour tinkering business is the fact that nobody knows for sure whether Jackson approved this change.
