With a shady authority known as the Time Police on their tail, will the Timeseekers be able to save us all? Harry's mother, Maisie, works as a waitress and scrimps and saves to send her son to school and give him a better life. With an insider feeding Faulkner's plans, Warwick and Hogan's duty transcends routine — they're on a mission to prevent the crime of the century.

It is intriguing to the very last page, and I appreciate the way all of the characters weave in and out each others lives with such ease. Thanks to Saint Martins Press and Jeffery Archer for hosting the giveaway that allowed me to experience the magic that is Mr. Harry and Emma build a love deeply rooted in honesty, but may face insurmountable challenges because of one lie. From page one I was completely caught up in this story, following an incredible cast of characters for just over 20 years in this first volume.

The story revolves around the main character Harry Clifton, a boy growing up in the backdrop of docks in Bristol at the start of the 20th century. Cargo ships coming from distant lands and unloading their wares: rice, sugar, bananas, jute and many other things I’d never heard of. Volume one takes us from the ravages of the Great War to the outbreak of the Second World War, when Harry must decide whether to take up a place at Oxford, or join the navy and go to war with Hitler’s Germany. I felt complete confidence that Archer had command of the story at every stage, right up until the last of many shocking events, which of course sets the stage for the next book in this family saga.

It is not poorly written and will satisfy those readers who love series, love adventure stories, love plot-oriented books and love solving a puzzle. The family were all staying at our villa in Tuscany that summer when Giles took me to one side and said he needed to ask my advice. Despite their different lives, fate is destined to bring them together as they both embark on a ruthless struggle to build a fortune. He has written 27 novels, 7 sets of short stories, 3 prison diaries, 3 plays (all of which have been performed in London's West End) and a gospel.
