This bright, beautiful, chunky board book stands out with its examples of all the wonderful things Mums do with their babies; helping them to have fun, feel safe, discover the world around around them and, most importantly, showing them them how to love. whereas here, mum is functional carrying out mundane, typical "gender role" jobs and that's why we should love her. This book is a nice simplistic book, especially good for EYFS and potentially KS1 as the language within is simple and the illustrations aid the reader. Although this books seems a little babyish for my girls now, we did laugh at the idea of dancing in our underwear and enjoyed the questions at the back of the book. Whichever you choose, we hope you enjoy being part of your unique reading community – happy reading everyone!
and speaking as a children's librarian, again, I think the parents are more likely to pick this up than the children. The language by Isabel Otter is appropriately uncomplicated and Alicia Mas’ pictures are colourful making them useful to point to and introduce new vocabulary. This book won the UK's Booktrust Early Years Award 2010 for Best Book for babies under one year old.
Other things I wasn't thrilled about was that the kid was drinking a milk shake and just didn't seem disciplined that much.
