The only catch is you have to have a Prime membership, which you can get now with two inexpensive options. Home Entertainment has a big slate, with 4K upgrades not just for both James McTeigue's V for Vendetta, but also for the complete series of HBO's Game of Thrones. So if you’re interested in knowing why I scored each of the seasons a perfect score with the exception of the eighth, you can read all about in any of the below hyperlinks.

Without the bass you’ll never notice that stampede of horses coming your way or the many thuds and blows building up offscreen. Black levels have been taken down to gorgeously rich, inky levels without shadow detail being crushed, while contrasting bright highlights - candles, reflections on metal and skin tones, beams of sunlight - have been given a beautiful boost in brightness and intensity. Each of them is vying for power, for control of the kingdom’s Iron Throne, with political intrigue, bloodletting, and betrayal a-plenty.This set looks like an entire army of meisters toiled for a good year or two getting the image as close to perfection as possible. The package is nowhere near as elaborate as the deluxe Blu-ray set, but it’s sturdy, handsome, and it doesn’t take up a lot of room on your shelf.

I sampled episodes from each season here on the 4K discs and I put together a cumulative grade down below for both the audio and video presentations in this complete series release. All seventy-three episodes are included on thirty 4K Ultra HD discs, which actually do include significant special features too.I you love GoT and even thinking about upgrading to 4K in the future this collection is a no brainer. The DTS mixes were also a bit more biased to the forward portions of the soundstage, but the Atmos sounds smoother and more balanced. So if you want that scene as originally broadcast, you’ll want to hang onto that first Blu-ray set in particular. The first time you see Ned Stark’s outfit you’ll gape in awe at the amount of detail revealed with every strand. and I'd say that while things are better in seasons two and three, they're not quite at the lustrous levels seen throughout the later seasons).

I’ll go more into depth down below in the extras sections, but for now I’ll tease you with both the cover of said episode guide and the last page from within it. For the first time ever, loyal fans and collectors will be able to enjoy every extraordinary moment of this iconic show in eye-popping 4K Ultra HD with Dolby Vision HDR.

Also, because the image was captured in 10-bit, and Ultra HD presents that bit depth fully, gone are the banding artifacts that were visible in the BD image (you notice this almost immediately after the opening credits in the first episode, as the banner-men from Winterfell capture the deserter from the Night’s Watch—when they ride over the hill, the banding visible in the sky in that scene is now gone). And rest assured I’m going to do my best to cover everything you’ll find here, but I’m only a mere mortal. Before we move onto unboxing things here I do want to provide you with URL links to each and every season of my coverage of this series (plus Sean Ferguson’s take on Season 1). Some of the many Atmos moments you can expect to find within this complete series includes dragons flapping there hefty wings, flying, screaming, blowing fire and cold air downward and even landing, catapults, explosions, arrows overhead and you guessed it…my favorite saying…so much more.
